From 1st October 2008, when renting or selling a commercial or domestic property, it requires an energy performance certificate also known as an EPC. It is estimated 200,000 commercial and 1.5 Million domestic properties require an EPC each year.
The EPC certificate is valid for 10 years and is carried out an accredited energy assessor. The certificate is fully compliant and can be used with any estate agent.
A property report is prepared on the property before renting or selling and typically a report contains;
The report gives your property a rating between A - G. “A” Rated properties have the lowest running costs and “G” the highest. The calculation is made using the characteristics of the home which include; the age of property, heating system, heating controls, insulation, glazing and lighting. The report will outline a score on the property and give recommendations on how the rating can be improved.
Domestic Energy Assessment training course; can be either taken over 5 days or 2 weekends.
